With the Ladies group in hot pursuit, four riders took advantage of the strong tail-wind, and sped towards Cropthorne with speedometers regularly reading over 20mph. While it was very flattering, we all knew that there would be suffering later.

The ride to Cropthorne was basically the Bredon Hill loop, which is rightly very popular with cyclists, and we saw plenty of others enjoying the dry, but blustery conditions, including an Evesham group. At coffee, we saw a group from Bromsgrove, and were envious that there battle with the wind was done, while ours was still to come.

The return was indeed a battle, and one rider was suffering the after-effects of long haul travel, and required support most of the way home.

At least we didn’t get wet, which is probably a first for a ride this year. 60 miles, 2,150′ ascent @ 15.5mph
