How to Use Our Route Maps

1

Access the library
Begin by obtaining a personal (free of charge) RWGPS account. That account then gives you access to all the routes in the library that are classed as public. To see the “Members only” routes and gain access to premium features you need to then request Club access. You can follow the auto-approval link sent to you by the Club or use the Apply to Join link on the Club page. If you need the link to be emailed again, or if you have any other difficulty accessing the Club account then please contact the Secretary or the Vice-Captain.

2

Access the Club benefits
Membership gives you access to all the routes and several advanced features usually only available to premium RWGPS members:
  • Advanced Route Planning Feature
  • Estimated time
  • Voice Navigation in RWGPS mobile app
  • Offline Maps in RWGPS mobile app
  • PDF Maps + Cue Sheets
  • Advanced Turn Notifications with TCX files
  • Route Changelog with edit history

3

Select Your Route
Browse our routes to find your next ride. Use the map, collections, or table view.

  • There is a COLLECTION for each towns or village we visit.
  • Route LOCATION is set to the name of the destination town/village.
  • Route NAME: If the route goes to a specific café then that is the NAME of the route. Otherwise the NAME could be, for example, ‘High Street’ or ‘Town centre’.
  • TAGS typically start with ‘Road’ or ‘Gravel’ and then any major features such as ‘bridge loop’.

4

Download and Ride

Go to the Route Library or click on the map to find a selection of routes.

The Library can be searched by NAME, or LOCATION and filtered by TAG.

From the Map, click on the map and you’ll find a selection of routes that pass that point. Choose the one you want.

View the route, then download it to your device or print it out, with an optional cue sheet, and you’re ready to hit the road with confidence and ease.

Your Questions Answered

How do I access the route maps?

You can access the route maps by logging into you RideWithGPS account and then clicking here.

Are the maps updated regularly?

Yes, we regularly add new routes to the library and seek to continually improve the existing ones.

Can I download the maps for offline use?

Absolutely! Members can download maps to their devices or create printable pdf files for offline navigation.

What should I do if I find an error on a map?

Either fix them yourself, saving the route and noting your changes, or report any discrepancies to the Secretary, and we will address them promptly.

Do the routes include rest stops and amenities?

This depends on whtether the route editor included them, but yes, they can highlight points of interest like cafés, pubs, and summits along each route.

Can I add my own routes to the library?

Yes, and the club encourages members to do this. Just switch to the Club account and save your route. Add your own routes to the library but please follow these guideline for naming and sorting your routes to make it easier for everyone to find the route they want:

Route NAME: If the route goes to a specific cafe then the name of the cafe becomes the Name of the route. If the route doesn’t detour to a particular cafe then the Name could be ‘High Street’ or ‘Town Centre’ for example. To change the route name select ‘view’ and then click on the pencil icon next to the existing name.

TAGS should start with ‘Road’ or ‘Gravel’ and then optionally include any major features such as ‘Bridge lLoop’. Tags can be set/cleared by selecting one or more routes and using the ‘Set tags’ option at the bottom of the screen.

LOCATION is set to the name of the destination town/village. Although this duplicates the name of the Collection it is useful when viewing or sorting in the Route Library rather than a Collection. The location can be changed by selecting one or more routes and using the ‘Set city’ option at the bottom of the screen.

PRIVACY is set to Public for now, but we may make routes Members only at some point in the future. Select one or more routes then use the ‘Set privacy’ option at the bottom of the screen.

There is a COLLECTION for each destination we ride to, i.e towns and villages. Select one or more routes then use the ‘Add to collection’ option at the bottom of the screen.
