Eight set off from the Square on a bright sunny morning, for a change. Soon we had a deflation, which was quickly remedied, and it was on to the newly surfaced Tredington to near Gotherington lane. Gone are those dangerous ruts to be repaced (not patched) with a smooth surface. Similarly Gotherington to Gretton has been totally resurfaced and was a joy to ride.

After coffee it was then an ascent of Salters Lane, a first time for everyone, but again a good smooth surface helped this long steep ascent. It was then the Salt Way to Sevenhampton where all but one forded the stream. The leader cautiously took the bridge having in the past encountered problems with the ford.
Ham Hill was conquered but the descent was marred by a poor surface.
The Hewlett Arms made us very welcome followed by a brisk ride back to Gloucester. I needn’t have worried about new rider Sean, who tackled the hills with ease. Oh to be young again.
