With the onset of winter conditions the roads are becoming treacherous. On each of the last two Sundays there have been incidents, fortunately without any tragic consequences. One involved a rider in the sports group hitting an unannounced pothole and visiting the A&E department as a result; the other being an icy road that took down four riders on the AA ride. Remember that winter dirt and gloomy days mean that it’s hard to see anything going awry on your bike. Road Cycling have a few tips here on how to look after it. Take the time to check it thoroughly when you clean it so you can be sure it’s in good running order, and don’t forget to run those tyre pressures a bit lower on slippery winter roads.
