Mountain bike trails in the Forest of Dean re-open after £80,000 muddy makeover

Mountain bike trails in the Forest of Dean have been given a £80,000 revamp as record numbers take to the tracks during lockdown. Forestry England are warning bikers riding the trails, which have grown in popularity during lockdown, to be aware of the new layouts at Cannop Cycle Centre. Riders who flock to the Sallowvallets area every year are being warned to take it easy until they get used to the new layouts.

The work was carried out by specialist designers Back on Track with help from the Dean Trail Volunteers and they have rebuilt both the final descent of the Verderers Trail and the advanced skills area. Forestry England has supported off-road cycling for many years through a range of trails in the Sallowvallets area but say it is important to keep investing in the future.
