Ten of us set off from the square into a headwind for a route along Bristol Road, Stonebench, Elmore, Saul where we did a short loop around Fretherne where it started raining much earlier than forecast. Having put on our raincoats we continued through Frampton, Eastington and Kings Stanley. After Kings stanley, we joined the Cycle path to Nailwsworth where the rain eased off. The path was a little bit greasy because of the leaves but we all managed to reach Nailsworth and The Canteen cafe without any mishaps. The Cafe was very busy but we all managed to get a table food and drink. Here we were joined by a rider/usurper from the Tetbury ride who had arrived just before us.
As we were about to set off home, I realised that I had a puncture which was duly fixed and we set off home on the cyclepath again in the rain. At the Sainsbury’s Roundabout, two set off to meet others at the Pub in Stroud and two riders set off into Stroud to go up the newly surfaced Slad Valley and home. I returned home through Stonehouse where it duly stopped raining and the sun came out at last!
