Today’s ride was brought forward from Sunday because of the threat of the imminent Storm Ciara. Alas, efforts to publicise the change on FaceBook and this site seem to have gone (almost) unnoticed since only one rider joined the President for his B category ride to Ross, and he had to head back home as soon as he remembered his “honeydos”. Since one of those was to pick up his wife at the station, its a good job for both he and his wife that he did! The President set off alone westward but, discouraged by the low turnout, heavy traffic, and cold wind, went exploring Alney Island instead. As he did so he was prompted to wondered what it is about cycle paths that makes them so attractive to defecating cows, and to express silent appreciation for his mudguards. With no Dancey Trophy points on offer (these were reserved by the Captain for the scheduled wet and windy Sunday ride) there was little motivation to explore further and so one of the shortest Club runs in history was concluded.

And for anyone thinking of riding on Sunday, they’ve missed the B ride and the A ride will be cancelled if the weather proves as inclement as is forecast. Keep an eye on FaceBook and if in doubt check with the ride leader.
