After a late night, due to extra time in Miami, our first 11 assembled in King’s Square, without national anthems or crowd countdown. We set off in a loose formation, with an experienced striker up front, assisted by enthusiastic wingers always looking for opportunities to break-away, and an excellent ‘keeper bringing up the rear. Fine weather and a flat parcours made for a really enjoyable ride together through the lanes to our first drinks break (not an advertising break) at the busy Saul Junction.

The threat of a mutiny had resulted in a change of plan, in that we took the Elmore loop clockwise, rather than the traditional TT direction, which allowed all 11 riders to enjoy a second refreshment stop at Wholly Gellato. Back into Gloucester just as the heat was starting to build.

An excellent morning out with great company. Hope to see you again.
