Autumn Tour

The 2021 Autumn Tour will be to Newbury. Contact the Captain if you are interested. He is organising a traditional tour from Gloucester starting at 7:30 in the Square and staying at Newbury’s Premier Inn in the town centre. This group will ride to Newbury on Friday, around the area and visit Watership Down on Saturday, then return to Gloucester on Sunday. Most, if not quite all, the riding will be on roads

There will also be an off road option for Friday and Sunday, and possibly Saturday too. The ride will to start from Swindon railway station at 10:00 on Friday (there are trains from Gloucester roughly every half hour) and follow King Alfred’s Way to Reading, doubling back to follow the Kennet & Avon Canal to join the road riders in Newbury. As these routes show, the intent is to stay off roads as much as practical and as a result about half the route is unpaved. Riders will be using a mix of touring bikes, mountain bikes and gravel bikes used. Contact the President if you are interested in joining this group instead.
