Heavy overnight rain left a lot of surface water, more or less everywhere. Some adjustments were made to the published route to avoid known flood-spots, but there was no way we could avoid all.
A large combined Fast/Tempo group headed south to watch the TT at Slimbridge roundabout, arriving just as Tim R, on his way to fourth vet overall, was performing his turn. After Nathan had passed us, we started to feel cold, so continued our ride.
Cam Pitch split the group, and the leading riders failed to turn in Stinchcombe, so were never seen again. Hopefully, they are not still in Wootton-under-edge. The rest continued on some sketchy mud past roadworks near Damery to the Tortworth climb, and on to well-earned coffee at Falfield garden centre.
Returning via Berkeley saw the gold group coming towards us, but other than that a reasonably uneventful ride home.
