10 riders left the Square, no wait the Cathedral, on a lovely warm morning. Heading out past Kingsholm we diverted off to take the quiet lane through Sandhurst to Twigworth. This meant a short stretch of main road to the Wainlodes turning where we reacquainted ourselves with the lanes over Wainlodes to Tirley. At the crossroads we took the left to Ashleworth where we realised we were missing a couple of riders. Jim, Seb & Daryl all went back to see what had befallen our absentees but didn’t come across them. With one of them being Nev I knew they wouldn’t get lost so we carried on to Hartpury. Slight concern on the lane towards Highleadon as it said Road Closed but we managed to get to our right turn to go through Blackwall’s End before left to Upleadon. Rather than taking the usual kick to the village we took a left past the Farm Shop then a few left and rights brought us out at Strawberry Hill where the usual route to Roses was taken. After coffee, 6 riders returned on the usual route to Gloucester though we managed to find out the reason for the road closure but the contractors allowed us through, though carefully avoiding the fresh tarmac. Miles covered, well I’m not sure as I didn’t start my computer until Blackwells End !! However, who really cares on what was a beautiful spring morning with the blossom and bluebells in abundance
