An update on the proposed cycle scheme between Gloucester and Cheltenham:

The B4063 runs between Gloucester and Cheltenham and a cycleway here will help cyclists of all ages and abilities to travel safely. It will link up the cycle route along London Road in Gloucester and the cycling improvements along the A40 in Cheltenham. The scheme will provide a continuous space for cyclists and make cycling and sustainable travel more appealing; helping to get people out of their cars and reducing the amount of traffic in the area. The new cycleway will be accessible to all, aiming to improve health and wellbeing in the community while reducing Gloucestershire’s carbon emissions.

Public engagement for the scheme will be completed in two phases. The first, starting this week, will cover the route between Elmbridge Court roundabout and Arle Court roundabout.

The scheme offers a significant step towards improving accessible, carbon free travel provision linking Gloucestershire’s key centres. The project links to the new cycling infrastructure in west Cheltenham and will be followed by a second phase of works to complete connectivity to the centre of Gloucester.
