Gloucestershire County Council have launched a public consultation on the proposed cycleway improvements in Gloucester. The council has committed to building a 26-mile cycle spine through the county, running from Stroud to Bishop’s Cleeve, via both Gloucester and Cheltenham. The scheme is in line with the council’s commitment to making the county carbon net-zero by 2045 and improving public health by enabling active and sustainable methods of transport, such as cycling.

Work is already underway to create a dedicated cycle route on the B4063 from Elmbridge Court roundabout to Arle Court roundabout. The B4063 cycleway scheme has been split into several parts and the section of the route from Oxstalls Lane to Elmbridge Court, in the Longlevens area of Gloucester, is currently in the design phase. Plans for the route, which will be shown as part of the public consultation, would see a dedicated cycle route built along the B4063 Cheltenham Road.

The public consultation asks stakeholders in the area for their thoughts on the proposed plans, with the feedback helping to shape the designs. The consultation is open until Monday, 17 October.

Further information and the feedback survey can be found on the council’s website, at https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/B4063
