With the unusual combination of good weather and an impending Bank Holiday weekend, to say nothing of school holidays, we can expect more traffic than usual this weekend. It’s therefore a timely moment to remind everyone of British Cycling’s Ridesmart program that was launched in response to cycling’s ever increasing popularity and to help recreational cyclists improve all aspects of their riding. Read more here and remember its main points:

  • As well as your own safety, look, think and communicate with the other riders around you
  • When you are riding on open roads, be alert to the vehicles you share the road with – ride responsibly and respect other road users
  • Pass on knowledge to less experienced riders by promoting good etiquette and technique

Don’t forget, if you are wearing Club kit, or with someone who is, you are an ambassador for GCCC as well as for cycling. Do your best to give a good impression.
