Normally speaking the Law of Diminishing Returns would be where adding more of one input is no longer yielding a proportionate increase in output, however for the ride leader of this week’s tempo ride it meant a diminishing number of riders returning with him as compared to the number setting out. Ten riders set out heading for the Hop Pocket on the Ledbury to Bromyard road, one suffered a torn tyre at Wainlodes that required the nifty intervention of an empty toothpaste tube as a temporary fix to get them home. Two more headed back at Ledbury, followed by another two who found convenient return locations to get them back to base. The remaining five found excellent sustenance at the Hop Pocket where the cake was not at all diminished

After refuelling we made sure all remaining were going to return together and despite a further puncture near Much Marcle, blamed on the rather challenging Herefordshire road surfaces, the remaining five got back to base only slightly damp!
