The early start of 8.30 did not daunt the 14 who left the square behind the leader who took them through the delights of Elmbridge and past the Amazon warehouse and multi storey car park still unused after over a year, As traffic was light the group climbed the A46 which is probably the easiest route out of Gloucester into the Cotwolds when traffic is light.
Just after Brimpsfield one of the riders dismounted unexpectedly resulting in cuts and grazes (since heard he is OK now).
It was then Woodmancote, Perrots Brook the Welsh Way and White Way or vice versa. This resulted in a delightful, long gentle descent on a beautifully smooth road into Cirencester.
After coffee the group left together but eventually the majority returned to Gloucester leaving 4 to go to lunch. The leader was concerned about a Met Office weather warning for torrential rain and thunderstorms but he needn’t have worried as no rain was experienced. At lunch we were joined by M and N who are temporarily off their bikes, we wish them speedy recoveries.
The three then returned to Gloucester via Minchinhampton and Stroud.
66 miles and 3850 feet of climbing.
