Sixteen riders turned up for this week’s Gloucester City Chain Gang, with ages from 20 to over 60. Just one group set off on the long route, on the A38 to Tewkesbury then over Mythe bridge and back along Corse Lawn to Maisemore & over roundabout. The pace was frantic and fast ,with riders like Tim Butler & Ed Ray who have been competing well in recent races .It was obvious that such a large group wasn’t going to stick together and indeed riders would get dropped, especially with speeds averaging 23-24 mph for the whole 23 miles. But it was a great turn out and good group riding skills were demonstrated by all, which will hopefully help all riders in the coming season.
