This year’s AGM was well attended by an audience representing all aspects of the club, from coaching to road racing and from touring to time trialing. Proceedings opened with reports from the retiring officers and then election of a new President, Malcolm Taylor. His predecessor, Toby Wooldridge, was thanked for his service in the role and elected to the position of Vice President He also continues as Captain. This was followed by election of the new committee, Neville Lockwood and Pete Errington having decided to stand down. Many members were reelected, and the post of General Secretary was filled, with Jon David being elected unopposed to the position. Ted Tedaldi noted that Jon’s family history with the Club goes back to the early 1930’s. Jon was quick to point out that his own involvement began considerably later! Bruce Diesel was elected to the post of Coach and a nomination was put forward for a Racing Secretary to replace Pete Errington, Pete was elected Clubman of the Year.

Constitutional changes recommended by the Committee were approved. These included some changes to the trophy qualifications. The Boakes and Lew Morris trophy will in future be awarded to the best TT achievement, with a new award to be given to the best racing achievement in a mass start event. The Boakes Shield, previously awarded for fastest Three Cities ride on a touring bike, will in future be awarded for the fastest ride on a road bike. The recommendation to accept the Tyndale Section, as noted here https://www.gloscitycc.co.uk/tyndale-cc/ , was endorsed by the membership.

Organizers came forward for each of the Club’s 2018 Open events and our affiliation to various national cycling bodies was confirmed. Winners of the Touring Trophies were decided: The Club tour to Knighton last spring won the McLeod Trophy and a tour to the Haute Alpes meant that the Gouda trophy was won by Adrian Pearce. Voting for the Best Novice racer resulted in a tie so joint winners are Carlo Toledo and Pete Habershon.

In any other business a discussion of club finances and clothing sales concluded that the Committee should seek ways to use both to encourage greater participation by Juniors and Ladies.
