Despite an uninspiring forecast, 28 turned up in King’s Square this morning. The sports riders showed the wisdom of not planning destinations too far in advance, as they headed south with the expectation of being blown home up the A38.

Two B rides went to Ledbury. On one, the peloton was questioning the ride leader’s sanity as he headed South through Flaxley, while the other took the lanes through Tibberton and Newent. Some sabotage of the Rides book occurred when Neville’s ride description finished with “through N”, which inspired a spate of impressive creative writing. Perhaps Spokespiece should have a cycling fiction column in future !!

Various different return options were taken. The Vice Captain’s was over Hollybush and the Haw Bridge, but it seems sure that most ended with a battle into the wind. Although fairly mud-splattered, I think we all got home before the rain came in.
