I’m sure you’re all aware that it’s a special day today – the greeting card shops, pubs, and restaurants have been banging on about it for weeks.
It is of course Prune Day! A celebration of dried plums. I put some on my porridge before reading on the packet that ‘prunes contribute to normal bowel function’. Oh well, too late now.
Six Tempo riders gathered in Kings Square, everyone else was presumably at home taking advantage of it being International day of Latex – “an observance for all latex fans”.
Our route took us through Staverton and Tredington, then via the Gs to Stanway. Fortunately it’s World Wind Day, and a stiff westerly helped us along nicely.
Once the serious climbing started the under thirties shot off and left the over sixties struggling. Clearly not everyone was aware it’s also World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
After a welcome coffee and cake at Broadway Tower, where we were pleased to bump into the Steady riders, it was home via Winchcombe, Cleeve Hill, and Cheltenham.

Right, I’m off to the pub now, apparently my kids want to buy me a beer. I’ve no idea why.
