Seven riders assembled in the Square. With two disappearing to do their own thing the remaining five decided on a loop South, in the hope that this would avoid a return to Gloucester into the strengthening wind and heavy rain that was forecast for around 10:00.

A flat parcours and a good group made speedy progress to Saul and, with no sign of the rain, did battle with the wind to Frocester village before returning. At Haresfield the rain started, a bit later than forecast but by then we were on the way home. Three disappeared for coffee in the Roastery while the remaining two decided that coffee in wet kit would be no fun. Although short, and lacking a social element, I think we made the most of the weather, which had definitely reached the “don’t go out” stage by lunch-time.
