On a dubious Sunday morning, with the expectation of some rain and a Southerly wind, five riders set out on the Tewkesbury A Ride. On of the five was a new rider to the club who we all welcomed as we began our ride. Taking the usual route out of the town to get to Alney Island we headed for Maisemore heading up and over, through Church Road avoiding the A417. Dropping down to the Royal Exchange we turned right into Ashleworth, going around the village heading towards Tirley. At the B4213 we headed straight over towards Chaceley, taking a first left back up to Corse Lawn and first right through Hill End through Chaceley, Forthampton, then right up to the A438, then a left & right along Green Street to Bushley. Dropping back down to the A438 then over the river (Severn) and on to Tewkesbury, taking in the delights of the “Cafe au Chocolat” emporium. Having arrived at the “coffee stop” a little early we relaxed in the shop taking stock of or luck so far in not encountering a shower, but bemoaning our return home against the wind.

Taking the “East of the M5” route back to Gloucester, it was quite windy, but the warmth of the wind and everyone taking a turn of the front made the return relatively enjoyable. A good Sunday ride was had by all
