After some discussion as to whether the ride was A or AA, ten set off from the square proceeding up the A38 to Quedgeley, then via Severnvale Drive to Naas Lane roundabout. After passing the police station and Quedgeley Pond, we took the cycle path through Hunts Grove, then passed over the motorway by the farm track, with antipodean comments about the route being “technical”, causing the riders to become rather spread out.
We then quickly reached Haresfield, where one rider returned early. After passing through the settlement of “Standish Church” we reached Stonehouse without mishap. We then proceeded as usual through Stanley Downton to reach the George at Frocester, crossing over up the hill towards Coaley. At this point, for some inexplicable mysterious reason, the Vice Captain (on another ride to Falfield) suddenly appeared at high speed going the other way with another rider, then shortly turned around and overtook us.
After passing Cam station, we turned right and reached the Slimbridge roundabout, turning left then right to pass through Gossington. We reached Berkeley without further incident just before 11am.
