Twenty members set off from King’s Square on the first dry day for some days. The familiar route via Seymour Road and Tuffley took them to Brookthorpe and Stonehouse. With little wind the group made steady progress to Cam where a series of short sharp climbs took them to Dursley. A flooded railway bridge stopped the group as the depth of water was unknown. A passing car showed it not to be too deep and all pedalled through without getting wet, the water was just below bottom bracket height. At the A38 Junction the group split in two as there were too many for the small but quaint Berkeley Tea Rooms so half went to the Black Shed at Slimbridge for coffee.

After coffee the Berkeley group, by popular request diverted to Sharpness to experience the vast panorama of the Severn Estuary.   An easy ride, taking care crossing railway lines, then lead via the canal towpath (not muddy but narrow) to the Three Horse Shoes at Frampton for lunch in the warm sunshine of the pub garden with time for a game of boule.

Again a gentle tail wind helped the group back to Gloucester completing 55 miles of moderate  cycling before the next lot of wet weather is expected.
