The rides list showed Broadway Tower, and although the leader decided that it was too cold to sit outside that exposed cafe, he did stick with that general direction and go to Wickhamford. This turned out to be a poor choice in a strengthening SW wind.
Our only obstacle on the outbound journey was Cleeve Hill, and once this was behind us, we enjoyed the fresh tarmac through Greet and on along flat lanes to our destination, where excellent coffee and cake were enjoyed.
The planned return via Elmley Castle was thwarted by a full road closure at Hinton-on-the-Green, so we diverted via Sedgebarrow and rejoined our outbound route. Some riders were concerned that it would result in another traverse of Cleeve Hill, but the Prescott route was selected for return. Wind was a battle from Gotherington all the way home. However, it was nice to get home with a clean bike.
