Five riders left Kings Square a little after 8 a.m., as our sixth rider experienced a mechanical en route to the rendezvous. We picked up two more riders at Brookthorpe. We continued into the stiff SW wind through the foothills of the South Cotswolds via Haresfield, Stonehouse, Frocester, Cam, North Nibley, Charfield and Cromhall, down to Iron Acton. We then turned West to pick up the A38 at Rudgeway. After a brief stop to pick up more refreshments in Alveston we got onto the A38 and set a blistering pace with the tailwind and flat road. The group worked well as a team, going ‘through and off’ to maintain a smooth pace. We turned off the A38 at Frampton and proceeded through the lanes via Saul, Epney. Longney, Elmore and Stonebench. Arriving at The Quays just after noon, for 70 miles in 4 hours. A very productive aerobic endurance ride.
