Black Mountains Ride – VERY EARLY START

August 25, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Club’s biggest ride of the year, and one with years of tradition behind it. We take the roads to Hay, aiming to cover the fifty or so miles in three hours Then we take coffee and more at The Granary in Hay on Wye before heading over the Black Mountain and taking afternoon tea at Part y Seal in Grosmont or at the WI shop in Skenfrith. Traditionally the crossing of the Mountain is off road but as bikes have become lighter, tyres narrower, and the tracks more eroded (those pesky trail motor cycles) many riders nowadays choose to cross Gospel Pass by road or even simply return. Whatever your choice be prepared to cover more than a hundred miles during the course of the day, so bring some spare food or gels and plenty to drink.
