Seven opted for the tempo mystery ride on a beautiful cold crisp winter’s morning, that was thankfully frost free. Oxtalls and Frogfurlong lanes took us to the “green mile” (the new cycle path). Using teamwork into the light northerly wind, the Old Spot, Tredington and Northway were soon behind us. Kemerton, Conderton and the lovely descent to Beckford followed, by which time, he group had probably guessed the intended destination. The original plan to loop through Didbrook was abandoned in case the railway underbridge was flooded, so the appalling surface of the main road was suffered to excellent coffee and cake at Hayles Fruit Farm.
Return via Prescott proved uneventful. No floods encountered anywhere. A great day to be out on the bike, as you can wrap up against the cold when it is dry. A much welcomed change from the soaking that has been the story of the last few months.
52 miles, no significant climbs @15.6mph.
