With nine riders in the square on a near-perfect morning for a ride, we decided to set off as a single group and see how it developed. We thought the unusually flat parcours was unlikely to split the group, but some took the absence of elevation as a cue to go harder on the flat, and the group split into two on the beautiful lanes around Chaceley. The two groups each remained together to excellent coffee and cake at Clive’s of Cropthorne.
Returning as one group until Prescott Hill caused another split, we all arrived home having demonstrated that it is possible to use speed instead of hills to destroy your legs.
