We had a quartet of four riders departed Kings square for a comparatively easy ride to the Upper Lock cafe at Stroud. Heading out of Gloucester via Southgate street onto the Bristol road, crossing the Hempsted by pass via Hempsted bridge to join the cycle lane to Quedgeley.
Taking care to avoid the many gaping cracks in the cycle lane, which is obviously suffering from none existent maintenance since its construction over 25 years ago. Taking the familiar route past the Pilot Inn at Hardwicke en route to Frampton. Pleasantly surprised by the lack of other road users, a quiet ride was enjoyed. Leaving Frampton via the canal bridge at Saul Junction to cross the A38 at Whitminster. It was then up the hill to Eastington and onto the Tetbury road to Frocester with a following wind to Kings Stanley before taking to the high ground with magnificent view of the valley. Down to Dudbridge before navigating the extensive and confusing road works and up onto the main road to Stroud. Arriving at 10.55am having covered a distance of approximately 22 miles.
