Last night at the Gala Club around twenty members enjoyed a talk by Bruce Diesel, the Club Coach. Bruce discussed the use of power meters to quantify not just power but, with the aid of various formulae and software packages, fitness, and fatigue. He illustrated how to use training zones as a way to manage your training to peak at your target events. Perhaps his most important lesson is that training to ramp up your fitness has to be seen as separate from racing, which means that planning for a successful 2018 season needs to start now.
A backdrop to the evening was the distribution by Ken and Alistair of the latest clothing delivery from Yellow Ltd., the Club’s sponsors. As well as repeat orders for bib shorts, bib tights and jerseys, it included the eagerly awaited rain jackets. Let’s hope that, like any insurance policy, they aren’t needed!
