The devised route for this ride was created with the anticipation of another Sunday drenching. The forecast was not encouraging at all, so there were many opportunities for short cutting back towards Gloucester in the event of deteriorating conditions.
Thankfully these didn’t materialise so the six riders who departed Kings Square were treated to multiple crossings of the M5 and A38 to get us to Dursly. Over the traditional coffee and cake, phones were consulted to see where the wet stuff had got to, still south of Bristol was the answer, so we decided to crack on with the hills on the way home. Stinchcombe, pretty steep, then via Selsey down to Stroud, then the long climb of the Slad Valley.
By the time we got to Fostons Ash the first splodges of rain were making their presence felt, so from that point it was as fast as we could go to get back before being drenched, and I’m glad to report, mission accomplished

Rain beaten… for the most part!
