The YEAR 2000 trophy was presented to the Club by Gerry McGarr, owner of the YEAR 2000 cycle race promotion business. YEAR 2000 organised MTB races, training weekends with Professionals, MTB holidays in Forest, Bike Hire, Race Commentary (including National events in Scotland) and more. Many of the participating under 12’s and youth riders went on to Olympic and World Championship glory, including Nicole Cooke, Liam Kileen, Tracy Moseley and Simon Richardson (GCN). The trophy was awarded for MTB achievement.
In 2024, the trophy having been unclaimed for eight years, it was repurposed to create a road bike category trophy in the CEBAR competition.
