What a beautiful morning for cycling. With the stiff breeze on our back, we were flying, and really enjoying ourselves. It felt like being in the world class Brazil teams of old. Small setbacks like a muddy corner and small flood did nothing to dampen our enjoyment, and even the climb to Wyche was good fun.
After coffee, we found the wind was more than a stiff breeze, so rather than Brazilian flair, we resorted to dogged German teamwork to get us home. Some very poor surfaces, would have had many modern players lying on the floor calling for the referee, but we made it without any stopages or VAR interventions. We are all through to the next round, which, on paper, looks like an easy game involving mince pies. However, as the late Brian Clough once said “Unfortunately, the game isn’t played on paper!”
