DESCRIPTION:We shall be riding out to watch the Tour of Britain. http://www.tourofbritain.co.uk/\n\nStage Five will prove to be another tough day on the road\, covering 205 kilometres and 3\,675m of climbing\, taking the Tour of Britain across South Wales and into Gloucestershire and the finish in the stunning UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. Rolling out from Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf the race will head east through Pontypool and Usk before running through the Forest of Dean and up along the Severn Estuary into Gloucester. Coming out of the cathedral city the riders will head south into the Cotswolds before passing through Stroud and Dursley as they make their way to the finish in the picturesque city of Bath\, the second time the modern race will have visited the city\, but the first time it has hosted a stage finish.\n\nDetails TBD

Continue to Staunton\, turning left at the roundabout. Continue on the A417 across the M50 junction and on to the first roundabout on the edge of Ledbury. Turn here (13.5 miles). Retrace the route\, turning right at the roundabout in Staunton (care). Finish beyond the old school buildings beyond Hartpury at the pull-in by a gate into the woods (grid reference 798234). \nTime Keepers: Chippenham & Dist Whls Michael and Sheila Edwards and Malcolm Grainger Gloucester City CC. \n1. DESCRIPTION:The idea is to use the Youth Hostel at Streatley near Goring on the Thames. The cost is approx £50 for B&B for the two nights based on sharing in rooms of… 4-6. Youth hostels have been upgraded considerably and are now pretty good value for money and there is the advantage that we are all together in the one building. The Saturday ride would be a tour of the Chilterns\, an attractive area with lots of lanes and pretty villages. SUMMARY:Tour Day 2 - The Chilterns
DESCRIPTION:The Saturday ride will be a tour of the Chilterns\, an attractive area with lots of lanes and pretty villages.The Chilterns Hills are by definition hilly!! The area is undulating with some steep climbs and descents in places.The route will be based on the Chiltern Cycleway (but not all of it!) details of which can be found here http://www.chilternsaonb.org/cycleway.html It is a 170 mile circular route passing right around the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Chilterns Cycleway is signed throughout\, look out for the following: \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nOver 95% of the route is on-road (mostly following minor roads)\, with just a few sections following towpaths\, surfaced cycle lanes and bridleways. Cyclists with slick road-bikes should be aware of the few unsurfaced sections which can be rutted or muddy and unsuitable for ‘skinny tyres’; cyclists can either push their bikes along these sections or follow an on-road alternative. \n\n\n\n\n
