GLOUCESTER CITY CYCLING CLUB
TOURIST TROPHIES
There are a good number of trophies for the non-speed members to
collect. Most are also available to be won by a racing member - but in practice...
Anyway, here they are - get ready to polish!
The Dancy Trophy. Points
on Club Runs.
Season-long endurance and consistency is required to capture this one - it is
regarded as the Holy Grail for the club riders! Points are awarded to all riders on the
club ride (not the Sports ride - although there is some debate on this one!) starting from
the Square and stopping for coffee. Additional points may be gained for official lunch
stops. Essentially, all rides on the Runs list count - including club tours and occasional
mid-week rides. The competition starts in September and finishes in August. Expect to gain
in excess of 90 points to have a chance. A medal is also awarded to the second placed
rider. To win this one you will have to cover more miles than for all the other trophies
combined! Refer to the Dancy Trophy page for an update
of progress for the current season.
2002 / 2003: Paul (Theo) Brookes - 116 points
2001 / 2002: Dave Lesser - 85 points
2000 / 2001: Toby Wooldridge - 96 points.
1999 / 2000: Paul (Theo) Brookes.
1998/99: Debbie Light - in excess of 100 points!
The Jim Burnet Trophy. Junior Club runs
attendance.
Rules as per the Dancey trophy, but goes to the best junior rider.
2002 / 2003 : Not awarded
Bruces Bonus. Club runs
punctures.
Self evident really - the greatest number of punctures incurred and fixed on
official club runs. Same rules apply as per Dancey trophy. The puncture must be fixed on
the ride - replacement of the deflated tube is adequate. A very nice brass track
pump mounted on wood is the trophy. Refer to the Bruces
Bonus page for an update.
2002 / 2003: Paul Brookes and Daryl Lines - 5 punctures
2001 / 2002: Neil Calder - 4 punctures
2000/ 2001: Debbie Light - 3 punctures.
1999 / 2000: Gordon Smith.
1998 / 1999: Martyn Williams.
The Gibb shield. Social Competition.
A fantastic shield which takes ages to polish! To grab this bit of history, enter
the Social Competition events from November to September. The one with the most points
from their best 5 events is the proud winner. See the Social
Competition page for the details.

Simply the fastest tourist class rider to cover the 3 Cities circuit. To
count as a 'tourist' you must ride a bike equipped with full-length mud guards, have a
saddlebag or handlebar bag with rain cape and puncture repair kit. And not have entered an
'Open' racing event in the current season.

This trophy, a long pipe enclosed in a case, is for the best non-UK touring ride of the
season, as determined by the General Committee in November. Criteria considered include
number of club members involved, destination, miles and terrain covered, piece for the
newsletter and possible slide show. Hopeful candidates need to pitch for this award.

2001: Debbie and Nigel Light.
