TG HALL 25 MILE TIME TRIAL - RESULTS AND PRIZE WINNERS 2006

Course: U72

This is the first running of the TG Hall on this nice scenic undulating course. With a good surface over most of the 25 miles and some hills to test the riders it makes for a worthy Hardrider counting event - this time standing in for a cancellation earlier in the season. A good field of 63 plus one tandem made for an entertaining race - at least for the marshals!
On investigation the course record looks to have been 56.39 by Roger Iddles in the October 25 in 2000. This being the case,  Mark Wareham took full advantage of the nice conditions and improved the record, setting it at 56.36. 
The slightly unusual allocation of prizes did in fact work out rather well, with no rider taking more than one prize (bar the obvious winner and fastest senior prizes). Special mention should go to two rides in particular:
Rupert Denny, just 13, and fresh from a PB in the GHS National 10 on the day before, smashed his 25 PB by over 8 minutes to record a fabulous 1.10.09. He also came in 40th to take one of the lottery prizes.
The tandem pair of Chris Madge and Astrid Wheatcroft positively flew round the lumpy course to record a truly brilliant 54.34. This on a course I thought was not entirely suited to tandems! My apologies for not making note of this ride in the prize presentation.

My thanks go to the marshals at Staunton and Ledbury round-a-bouts.   Also to the Timekeepers, start stewards, signing on and results board, finish area and refreshments lass. With this crew the event went smoothly.
We take rider safety seriously - there were 7 marshals and 18 warning triangles out on the course to try and ensure traffic would be aware. Beyond that it is up to the riders to act reasonably.
