RECOMMENDED PUBS - PAGE 2

Frampton: The Three Horseshoes,  15/10/2006

Gordon Kay arriving for a swift pint at a jolly good pub: local real ales, proper cider and a range of foods even on a Sunday - a refreshing change!  A classic locals pub but still welcoming.  Rated 9/10.  Just missing dedicated cycle parking!

The Stirrup Cup, Bisley, October 2006

For once, a nice dry day!  A good pub for a choice of food and good ales.  Rated 7/10.  (No cider, a bit smokey)

The Boat, Ashleworth, 5th November 2006.

Our favourite haunt along with lots of other cyclists.  Good enough to sit in the sun!  Rated 10/10 - excellent rolls, beer and cider. And dedicated cycle parking!

12 November 2006: Colesboourne Inn.  Very posh indeed.

Mainly a restaurant but still retains a small bar area - very nice if you can get a seat!  Excellent grub too!  Beer caused no problems, no cider.  Rated 6/10.

17 November 2006:  Red Lion, Huntley.

Seemed OK on this visit but a following one was very disappointing.  Limited food on Sunday, some beer was 'off' and no cider.  Rating: 4/10.  Could easily be so much better, shame.

31 December 2006:  The Gloucester Old Spot, Pifs Elm.
First class for cider and beer; not so good for food unless you want the roast.  Big fire and friendly atmosphere, not smokey.  Rated 7/10.

The roaring fire and a couple of gents
