GLOUCESTER CITY CYCLING CLUB
OPEN 10 MILE TIME TRIAL - RESULTS
Held on the U7B on Saturday afternoon, 26/06/2004. Course Record :
22.01 set in June 2004 (from 22.07, in turn improved from 22.08)
Conditions - wet and cool with a fairly strong SE wind.
The Overall Winner was Dave Keene of Bristol South CC with a new
course record of 22.00. This meant Dave won the prize donated by Striking Bikes
of Gloucester for improving the course record. (The previous week Dave Kiddell of
Cavalier CC had set a time of 22.01. This time was equalled by Jimmy Little of Luk.Racing
in second place.)
Winning team was Gloucester City CC with 1.10.20 ; second
team was Bristol South CC with 1.11.27. Dursley failed to feature as only one of
their seven entries started!
First Lady was Tracey Maund of Walsall RC with 24.53.
Best rider aged between 40 and 55 was Tim Abrams of Ross on
Wye & District CC with 23.31 - and a PB. He also won the prize for Best Coordinated
skinsuit and helmet and Most Friendly Rider.
Best rider over 56 was won by Stan Mills of Yorkshire RC with
23.54.
Lantern Rouge, also donated by Striking Bikes, went to the
evergreen Janet Tebbutt, with Alan Daws less than a minute ahead.
So - thanks to all the riders for entering, especially those that travelled a long way,
including Chris Hopkinson, Stan Mills and Ellen Thornell. Thanks also to the
marshals, helpers and timekeepers without whom these events could not be put on. Respect
is due to the Tea Team for keeping everyone well fed and watered.
Once again I enjoyed running the event and despite the weather all went well. Shame about
all the DNS's - obviously the conditions were just too hard...
Hopefully all starters collected their free pen - a nice collectors item.
