PAUL BARNARD TROPHY
The winner is the person with the most points from all the CEBAR
events. 10 points for first place, etc down to 1 point for 10th place. No regard for
category (Senior or Veteran) - just the overall position in the event. The overall best
time and entries (ie effort and commitment!) wins.
Paul Barnard positions after 15 events: Well, it was a season-long battle between Guy and George - with the boy George coming out on top in the final events.

Results by event :
16) Portway Hill Climb 30 August 2006. The rain just about held off so the riders had a good clear run at the steep 'un. A lung-bursting classic only for the brave. George and Ian flew up with little apparent effort (George clearly holding back for his first 12 hour on Sunday 3 Sept). Andy made an excellent return to racing - showing the natural talent he has tucked away. Joung Rupert did a good ride for one so young. So, the end of the 2006 club events. Roll on April 2007!

15) Roadmans Hill Climb 23 August 2006. It was back to the classic Roadmans climb of Fidlers Elbow on the A46 for this year. After the cancellation of the 2005 event there were fears that we would have a repeat wit all the heavy rain during the day. However it cleared just in time. However the speeds were down - must have been the headwind experienced on the exposed sections - well, that's my excuse!

14) Three Cities 13 August 2006. This was a windy and grey affair but no rain. The leg to Worcester was made difficult by the unusual direction of the wind (NW), however compensation was gained for the Hereford section. The homeward leg was a breeze - if you had the energy! John Barns' record survived, but only just - a mere 32 seconds. This is the closest anyone has come to beating it, so George is either sick as a dog or well chuffed all the same - bearing in mind the conditions on the day this was a great ride.

13) CEBAR 25, CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 09/08/2006.
One for the hard men - a strong SW wind had the trees bending and the riders struggling to the turn. The return was a dream and a big gear was the order of the day. George put in a great performance to go under the hour and retain his Championship crown. A surprise Vets winner was Toby, having recovered well from the 100 on the previous Sunday. Liz Clegg just got the better of Christine to take the Ladies Championship, adding this to her 10 title. Mention must be made of Rupert Denny, knocking off some 9 minutes off his PB on this course!
